Carp Fishing Baits

With so many differing types of carp baits now readily available, it is very difficult to know which bait to choose.

Many carp fisherman have their own tried and tested favourite baits, that have caught them numbers of carp over the years. Whilst others frequently change their bait and baiting strategies, in an effort to try and stay one step ahead of the carp and to avoid them associating danger with the particular type of bait being used during that session or season.

You will often hear about a bait being "blown",.....meaning that the carp now so strongly associate a particular bait with danger that they do not just stop eating it, they actively and deliberately avoid it completely, whether its freebies or hook baits, a bait that is associated with danger and triggers an alarm within the carp will be avoided and refused at all costs by the carp.

Often a bait that is said to be "blown" will, after a season or two become "unblown" or to put it another way, the carp no longer associate that bait with danger and will now readily feed on it again, giving the bait a new lease of life.

Baits are now made in just about every flavour and colour possible in the bid to get the edge over other baits, some of the best baits have superb attraction and are made with the carps welfare in mind, giving carp a bait that's full of all the right nutrients and ingredients to promote ,health and growth. After all, many baiting strategies involve giving the carp large amounts of bait as "freebies" in order to capitalise on the baits potential.

Whichever bait you use for your carp fishing please be sure that it is prepared properly, as a poorly prepared bait such as particles and nuts can cause severe problems, if not death for the carp.
