The very attractive Howle Pool
Howle Pool
The pool which is set in the serene Shropshire countryside, was opened in July 2004 putting about £4000 worth of fish in, in accordance with advice from a fisheries consultant. Carp, (mirror and
common), roach and tench. Apparently there are rudd in there too. There may already have been some fish in Howle before the current owners stocked it. The biggest carp stocked were 5lbs. Some recent visitors caught a 14lb and a 15lb carp. There are rumours of larger fish, but not verified!
This 3 acre pool is springs fed, fairly shallow, mostly ranging from 2 to 5 feet. The springs stopped running for a couple of years, but we were able to top up the level using a farm irrigation bore hole, the springs are running well at present.
A wide variety of pegs have been constructed around almost the entire circumference of the pool, which provides enjoyable fishing for both the experienced angler and the novice.
No night fishing..
Day tickets are £5 (with under 13 year olds at £3).
There are 25 pegs (and a few more being cleared of tree interference)
The pool is situated Just off the A41, 5 miles North of Newport, 7 miles South of Market Dayton.
