Carp Fishing in Kent

Brookland Lakes
On the DDAPS club ticket, but also fishable on a day-ticket basis at around £18 for 48hrs. Comprises three main bodies of water - the A2 lake, the Competition lake (which are part of the same lake effectively) and Baldwins (which is now a separate lake).

The main lake must be of the order of 14 acres and contains carp to over 30lb. The water was very prolific going back a few years and then went downhill after losing a number of fish. It is now really up and coming with the fish packing on weight, with the potential to turn up some real surprises as anglers again start to get to grips with it. Tends to get very weedy in the warmer months - and remains so for much of the year. Being located close to the centre of Dartford, it is very public water and attracts all sorts of visitors. Lots of rumours surround the lake - although a good many anglers have fished it regularly for a long time and never experienced any of the trouble that the rumours suggest has been rife?

DDAPS has numerous other waters, including some at Sutton-at-Hone and Horton Kirby. The two lakes at Sutton in particular hold some great fish - not huge fish, but the original pukka Sutton-strain carp - stunning - For more info visit their web site www.ddaps.net or call
01322 270397.

Chilham Mills
This fishery has 5 lakes well stocked with carp and other species, amongst the carp stock is the now famous "Two Tone" the UK's largest carp, there is a season membership but we're not too sure about day tickets at this fishery, for more info Tel: 01227 730668.

Claygate Lakes
Location: Claygate, Near Marden, Kent - there are three lakes on this fishery but the lake attracting the carp anglers is "Amy" which holds common carp to almost 40lb and and mirror carp to nearly 30lb. The other two lakes Sophie and Eva lakes contain most species of course fish between them. Day tickets cost £10 per day and £15 per night and £20 for 24 hours, tickets must be pre-booked before arrival and season tickets also available - for more info Tel: 01892 730818.

Elphicks Fisheries
A fishery consisting of six lakes and offering just about all species of fish, the main lake of interest to the big fish angler is possibly the North Lake which has carp to over 40lb and catfish to over 50lb, the North lake can be night fished but membership is needed for this.... for more details visit their web site www.elphicks-fisheries.co.uk or you can call them on 01580212512 or you can call the fishery manager on his mobile on 07980 240249.

The lakes are stocked with carp that go to 40lb plus Bream, Tench, Perch, Roach, Rudd, Barbel and Crucians. Tickets from £7 per 1 rod to £20 for 3 rods for 24hrs on Specimen Lakes

Linton Park - aka "The Park"
An estate lake of around 3 acres. Mature and with a large number of lily pads. Lake record is around 32lb although there are very few fish of a similar size - with only a small head of 20's. Most fish are between 8 and 15lb. Night fishing is by appointment only and for limited numbers - and involves an additional charge. The lake is a long trek from the nearest car park - even if you park on the road where you're not meant to because of the residents moaning!
It's understood that a lot of trees were removed from one side of the lake - so that the owners of the Mansion House could see the lake from their windows apparently! This probably won't have helped the appearance of what was once a truly lovely looking water -
No on-site facilities available, for more info see the Linton AS web site http://www.lintonangling.co.uk

Longford Pits
One large pit of 70 acres an island and goes up to 30ft in places plus a smaller lake of 3 acres situated in Chipstead, Kent, carp go up to 30lb with the big lake being best for carp, good pike are also present. Season tickets available at a cost of £50, £30 for 16-18 year olds and £15 for OAP's these are all subject to a one off joining fee of £15, for more info Tel: 01322 437766 or go to their web site - http://www.holmesdale.acs.btinternet.co.uk

Manor Farm Reservoir - aka "The Farm", Marden
A small farm reservoir of around two-and-a-half acres - although that's a generous estimate IMO. Holds a good stock of fish to just short of 30lb, with approximately one in three fish landed being 20lb+. Mirrors typically have a lovely scale pattern. Reed-fringed around most of the margins, lots of fish taken from under the rod tips off the reeds, although don't overlook the middle of the lake, which has depths to around 18 feet. Tends to be "over-crowded" with any more than four anglers on the lake - midweek is definitely the best time to get on there.
Not the easiest venue to get your head around - persistence pays though! The fish in here seemed to respond well to big beds of baits - particularly things that other anglers tended not to use (most people use pellets and boilies). A boilie over the top of a big bed of hemp or parti-blend and maple peas was a very successful method - No on-site facilities available, for more info see the Linton AS web site http://www.lintonangling.co.uk

Monk Lakes
3 of the lakes on the complex will be of interest to carp anglers, The Specimen Lake, Bridges Lake and Puma Lake with the other lakes being Match lakes (2 off), and a Catfish lake! There are toilets, a tackle/bait shop and a café on site. There is a huge car park too!
Specimen Lake (Mallard Lake)
This water is around five acres and designed to house up to 10 anglers. Features include an island, reeds and numerous lily pads, with quite a contoured lake bed. Booking is essential on this lake.
Approximately 100 carp were stocked at weights between 15 and 45lb - although it's rumoured that only 3 of the fish stocked were under 20lbs!
£35 for 24hours is by no means cheap, but well worth a go if this sort of water rocks your boat.
Bridges Lake
This water is around ten acres with numerous islands - most with bridges to them - enabling you to fish from them! Carp to 30lb have been stocked in the water - although the lake was really designed with the float angler in mind - obvious when you see how close some of the pegs are to each other!
Puma Lake
This is around 5 acres again and designed to be the runs-water - with lots of carp present to around 15lb.
24hr tickets on Puma and Bridges will set you back £25, or £17.50 per day (3 rods).
For more details and contact info visit the monks web site - www.monklakes.co.uk

Manor Fisheries
Two lakes on this fishery of interest to the carp angler situated in
Headcorn - the largest - at around 4 acres - being the mixed coarse lake, with carp to mid-20's. The easier of the two waters - also holds cats and sturgeon. Weed growth can be prolific in the summer.
The specimen lake is at most one acre - with an island taking up about half of that area! Really badly pegged - fishing on top of each other - you really want to be there when there's only one or two others on there. Does get busy at weekends though. Holds around 20 carp to into the 30's. The weed does get really thick - although is regularly raked out by the owner. Tigers and hemp are excellent baits in there - although overlooked by most of the anglers.
B&B accommodation is available. There is a hut near to the lakes with a proper flush toilet and running water (not drinking water).
The Manor website is not the best in the world and isn't really aimed at the serious carp angler but it does contain some info and contact details www.manor-fisheries.co.uk

Manor Farm Reservoir
A small reservoir of around two acres in Marden, Kent. Depths are from around 4 feet close on to 18 feet in the center of the lake. Carp go close to 30lb here but we don't know in what numbers. Fishing is for Linton AS members only, the is a £15 joining fee and a yearly fee of around £55 and there are reductions for juniors and OAP's For more info tel: 01622 211300, web site: www.lintonangling.co.uk/

Pads Lake, Paddlesworth
A small water of perhaps two acres. Very popular venue - mainly because it holds Porky that goes 40 and another half-dozen or so back-up 30's. Gets weedy in the summer and can be a nightmare as it's poorly pegged and everyone wants to fish the same spots from all around the lake – for more info visit the KAPS web site – http://www.kapscoarse.co.uk/

Pollards Lake, Paddlesworth
The largest lake on the Paddlesworth complex - at around 20 acres. Plenty of room for lots of anglers. Produced it's first 30 during 2004 - with plenty of back-up doubles and some twenties. Was once the club's runs water, although the results over the past year or so seem to suggest it's getting trickier. Also holds plenty of bream - that are always hungry and like their big beds of bait - – for more info visit the KAPS web site – http://www.kapscoarse.co.uk/

Rugby Lake, Paddlesworth
Perhaps 3 or 4 acres with pegs on two sides only. Almost completely reed-lined with clear water and a bit of weed. Holds plenty of doubles and a number of twenties to around 25lb – for more info visit the KAPS web site – http://www.kapscoarse.co.uk/

School Pool
A well known 12 acre lake situated in Faversham containing a good head of carp to well over 30lb, one of the reasons that this water is so difficult is that there is no night fishing allowed and trying to catch such large fish in such a short period of time can be very difficult "but not impossible" for more info and tickets Tel: 01795 534516.
